Auckland (June 21, 2023) – New Zealand’s bid for Mixed Relay triathlon glory at next year’s Paris Olympic Games is to be nourished by a new partnership with Radix Nutrition.
The pioneering Hamilton-based nutrition company has become an official partner of Tri NZ’s relay squad in a two-year agreement through to May 2025.
Radix’s range of scientifically-formulated Protein Powders, Recovery Smoothie Powders, Breakfasts and Meals will help fuel the Tri NZ relay squad’s qualification efforts, beginning at the fourth round of World Triathlon’s blue-riband series in Canada this weekend.
World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS)-Montreal includes a Mixed Relay on Sunday (live on Sky Sport from 1:50am NZT Monday), the first of four critical team races in 2023 as Tri NZ looks to secure its participation at the XXXIII Olympiad in Paris.
Radix branding will also be front and centre on the Team NZL relay race suits at the World Triathlon Sprint & Relay Championships in Hamburg (July 16), WTCS-Sunderland (July 30) and the Paris Olympic Test event (August 20).
While all four races carry important Olympic ranking points, Hamburg is the year’s key relay date given it’s duel WTCS-World Championship status. NZL can guarantee a team slot in Paris, and therefore starts in the earlier individual Olympic races for two males and two females, by finishing as the highest team in Germany, not counting already qualified France and Great Britain.
“We’re absolutely delighted to join forces with Radix Nutrition, an ambitious New Zealand company ideally positioned to help fuel the Olympic aspirations of our brightest young triathletes who are also boldly taking on the world,” Tri NZ CEO Pete De Wet said.
“When we first started talking to Radix, it was clear that both of our brands aligned perfectly. Radix products are world-class and will provide our athletes with the ability to achieve a high quality, nutritionally complete diet anywhere with ease, particularly helpful as they continue with their busy offshore racing schedules.
“We’re confident the endeavours of our Mixed Relay team will continue to grow awareness of the sport and the Radix brand and its product, not only in New Zealand but around the world.”
Radix Nutrition Founder and CEO Mike Rudling says the Tri NZ partnership is a proud moment for his company.
“This partnership further demonstrates Radix’s commitment to strengthen the capabilities of world-class athletes and sport,” Rudling said.
“In a highly demanding sport such as triathlon, our advanced meal and protein products will ensure that athletes perform at their best, whenever and wherever they are. This partnership will also serve as a testing ground for our future personalised nutrition capabilities, improving the metabolic health and performance of each individual athlete.”
The agreement extends beyond NZL’s top-tier athletes with Radix set to support Tri NZ’s club and member network through an affiliate and referral scheme, details of which will be released soon.
